Macropedia - much more limited, but more in-depth.įormat - Mostly text with some black & white photos interspersed, a minority in color, especially on biographic or geographic entries.
Scope - At first blush, this "micropedia" appears to cover a wider variety of topics than other encyclopedic volumes, devoting less space to each individual entry (albeit in a smaller font than most, cramming more information on each page) and covering several topics per page.
The entire 950+ page volume covers only 32 topics. The macropedia takes a different tack and has longer in-depth articles on a few select subjects - it's first entry is Accounting, skipping over all topics prior to "Acc". Purpose - To function as an information reference for a wide variety of topics. The same treatment in Vol 13 Beginning of Macropedia - straight into the entries. The first volume doesn't devote any space to mentions of the research staff or advisors and instead opts to jump directly into entries after a one-page "How to use the Micropedia).
